Ryan Shoots First: Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (S1 Ep9) “Axis Mundi”
It’s Penultimate Time!!
Last week Shaw roped Kate into his “Godzilla helper” brigade and it got them both sucked into a giant hole. All in like the last 20 seconds so here we go. And in the long line of great penultimate episodes, this episode is straight bonkers.
For a show that at some times could move kinda slow this episode is relentless. Reveal after reveal. Stuff we didn’t even ask for. It’s like we spent nine episodes waiting for specific answers then in this episode they just go ham and start throwing stuff at us. Hell one massive reveal I never even questioned until this episode when I went back and thought “Oh yeah that really wouldn’t have made any sense why didn’t I notice that”.
And really I have no idea where the finale next week is going. They set up some things in this episode but after the wild ride that we just had who frickin knows what will happen next week when I’m assuming Titans will get involved. I would say this episode definitively wrapped up the past timeline but at this point, that’s come back to bite me so everything is on the table for next week and I can’t wait to check it out. Monarch has really been a solid show with mostly excellent pacing and if this episode is any indication next week will be all gas no breaks.

- So they just loaded humans into a fishing lure. What could possibly go wrong?

- So how in the world did Shaw survive that? Escape From the Hollow Earth.

- That’s the most curtains I’ve ever seen in a hospital bay
- Yea, I have to imagine the magnetic field stuff would really mess with you down there.
- Kate’s gonna ride in on Godzilla
- Damn that’s harsh

- Is that Ken’s mom?
- Oh shit! That’s nuts
- So that prob was Ken’s mom. She’s been in on this the whole time!
- That’s no way to talk to your mother!
- Haha that was a weird needle drop
- Dude you just came back unaged after 20 years I think they’ll believe you.
- Dang so all that happened in like 20 minutes
- Dang they really had him rot in that facility didn’t they
- Haha “well now you know”
- So wait if they do manage to escape will time have gone wonky again?
- Oh dang! Well that was anticlimactic
