Scene of the Week: Undisputed 3: Redemption Final Fight
Boyka is back! This time he fighting back from the injuries sustained in the previous film and we’re no longer told that he’s the bad guy. That is good news for Boyka, for sure, but it’s also good news for us as fans because now we finally get a protagonist in the Undisputed series that is interesting and worth following for more than one film.
Every action star has a character (or sometimes more than 1) that they’re absolutely perfect for. For Scott Adkins, that role is Yuri Boyka. Not only is he much more sympathetic than the George Chambers character in the second film of the franchise but he’s also full of mystery and that allows for future films to go just about anywhere. It’s the perfect character to push this series along as Adkins and director Isaac Florentine continue to make amazing action films on minor budgets.
As a writer and more importantly, a fan of martial arts and action films, I appreciate Isaac Florentine for letting his fighters/actors really do the action. This isn’t some Channing Tatum “I couldn’t win a fight if my life depended on it” level shit. The actors in the Undisputed series look and act like they could actually give or take a punch. Imagine that, a martial arts movie using real martial artists?!? Maybe one of the big studios will remake it with Matt Damon or Frank Grillo.
A full review of Undisputed 3: Redemption will be coming in the next few weeks (stay tuned!) but you can wet your appetite with this fight scene featuring two amazing fighters in Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror. Spoilers for the film follow so beware!
