Scene of the Week: The Devil’s Backbone
Is a sports movie an action movie? That is an excellent question from a very smart and very handsome person. However, there probably will never be an answer to that question just like if Rollerblading is even a sport to begin with. Who knows and who cares?
I do know that the greatest inline skating movie of all time is Airborne and it has one of the most action packed scenes you will ever see. If you are unfamiliar with Airbone, it is a fish out of water story with California surfer Mitchell forced to live with his cousin Wiley in Cincinnati, OH. It features early performances from Seth Green, Jack Black, and Chris Conrad (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.) The greatest scene in Airborne, and this week’s Scene of the Week, is when the young adrenaline junkies skate the “Devil’s Backbone” to settle their feud. The “Devil’s Backbone” is the most hardcore race for all skaters in the Queen City, but in reality it is not an actual course only an amalgamation of extreme streets in Kentucky and Ohio. To make the scene even more intense and to avoid giving away too much backstory or spoilers the original soundtrack and dialogue have been removed leaving you with so much pure action and a kickass beat that you will have to check your pants after watching.

It is called “King of the Streets” by Lazerhawk… looks like it is available on all the major music streaming platforms.
