1993 Was a Good Year for Babes
Not only did I get the Citizenship Award in the 4th grade, but 1993 A.D. was also an excellent year for action movies! The biggest action stars in history all had movies come out that year (Arnie, Sly, JCVD, Kurt Russell, just to name a few) and there is no surprise that a great deal of these heroes also had smokin’ hot babes to rescue during their adventures. And God bless them for all that they did! Here are a few of my favorite babes to share the big screen with the action stars of 1993.
The Last Action Hero – Bridgette Wilson
You know her from Billy Madison and from banging tennis legend Pete Sampras, but Bridgette Wilson also played Arnold’s unbelievably hot daughter in the underrated The Last Action Hero. It’s no wonder that the young annoying kid was so willing to help out Arnie even when he realized he was nothing more than an average human being.
Hard Target – Yancy Butler
How many times am I going to keep mentioning Yancy Butler this month? As many times as I damn well please! In Hard Target Yancy convinces Van Damme to help her find her missing father before they both end up on the wrong side of a human hunting party. If I had a dollar for every time I have been in a human hunting party…
Striking Distance – Sarah Jessica Parker
My fandom for Sarah Jessica Parker, or SJP as I call her, began at Footloose and then died right around the same time as her Sex and the City show. Somewhere in between she looked mega hot standing next to Bruce Willis in Striking Distance. It’s another one of the strange Willis movies where he didn’t play John McClane and no one seemed to watch it. Either way, SJP had it goin’ on.
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story – Lauren Holly
I have no idea what the real Linda Lee looked like in the 1960’s (and no I will not Google it) but there is no way she looked as good as Lauren Holly did in Dragon. Whatever your thoughts are on non-Asians learning martial arts in the 60’s, Holly’s curves in that film made the excruciating back injury suffered by Lee a small price to pay for fraternizing with the white devils.
Only The Strong – Stacey Travis
Mark Dacascos shows up to the school that Stacey Travis works in totally ripped and it isn’t long before Mark has her doing gymnastics on his hardwood floor. If you know what I mean?? I know that sounds like sexual innuendo but a first date quickly turned into sweet Brazilian Dance-Fight Love-Making for this practitioner of Capoeira. I studying that shit during college and all I got were a ton of callouses on my hands and a pulled groin. If you know what I mean???
True Romance – Patricia Arquette
Patricia Arquette was kind of the white trash Marilyn Monroe in Tony Scott’s True Romance. The film is very much a Tarantino flick (having been written by him) which means that the most fleshed out and awesome role in the film is for the female lead. QT doesn’t get enough respect for his ability to write about badass chicks and Alabama is no different. She’s a girl after my own heart.
Point of No Return – Bridget Fonda
The tank top and undies look that Sigourney Weaver made famous in Alien is used to perfection by Bridget Fonda in Point of No Return. She isn’t just some damsel in distress or a piece of eye candy, Fonda plays a hardcore assassin trained to kill with any object in the house. It’s probably not as good as Luc Besson’s Nikita, but it gets points for the picture above.
Demolition Man – Sandra Bullock
Sandra Bullock was as cute as a button in 1993 (a button I’d like to have sex with). She hadn’t won any awards yet or adopted any kids from a third world country but she did have mind sex with Sylvester Stallone and wipe her ass using seashells. Demolition Man is a totally outrageous (in a good way) movie and features two of the top action stars (Stallone and Wesley Snipes) in their prime. If the same film were going to made today they would need Dwayne Johnson to play both roles.
