Chad’s Pick: Brotherhood of the Wolf
I remember when Brotherhood of the Wolf had come out and it had a bunch of success overseas. It did surprisingly well here in the states too for a foreign film. I went into it for the first time without really knowing what I was getting and oh man was I pumped! It is one kick ass movie! Rarely will I get so excited by anything French (fries, The Transporter, Sophie Marceau nude scene) but this movie smacked me upside the head with its awesomeness.
Mark Dacascos will always hold a place in my overgrown American heart for introducing me to Capoeira in the great Only the Strong. Monica Bellucci is one of the hottest women on the planet and while she doesn’t spend a ton of time on screen, her time is very well spent. Samuel Le Bihan plays our main Frechy and while I expect that his stunt double deserves much of the credit, his character was pretty badass. The film was a seriously awesome period piece set in Revolutionary France featuring a Native American martial artist and an armor-wearing creature that kills people. Now go watch it.
Plot: In 18th century France, the Chevalier de Fronsac and his Native American friend Mani are sent by the King to the Gevaudan province to investigate the killings of hundreds by a mysterious beast.
