Scene of the Week: You Are Under Arrest!
In my time writing for Bulletproof Action, I have found that there are two types of a movies that I find extremely difficult to review.
The first, oddly enough, are movies that I absolutely love. Here I am with a forum where I can express my love for a movie to the world but I often feel like I’m not doing the movie justice. The second type are the absolute classics of the action genre… what am I going to say that has not been said a thousand times already?!
A movie like 1987’s Robocop falls into both categories… Robocop is pure action magic. It is an amazing film that attracts movie fans from multiple genres and works on multiple levels with its over the top violence and social commentary. It was a movie that was like nothing that had preceded it.
Robocop may be a movie that I think is tough to review, but considering I’ve seen it countless times, it is obviously a movie that I think is easy to relive. In this week’s Scene of the Week, we will relive a pretty iconic moment from the film… where our hero Robocop (Peter Weller) catches up with one of the greatest movie villains of all-time, Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) as he was attempting to conduct some business with one of Detroit’s most successful drug dealers. The result Boddicker gets his ass kicked by Robo and starts singing like a canary…
I find I can’t stop writing about action movies I love. So I don’t try. I’m not getting paid to write, I’m just doing it for the love of the genre. I like this idea of sharing a scene.
