Women of Action: Zoe Bell – Angel of Death
You would have to know that any movie written specifically for Zoe Bell would have enough ass-kicking action in it to fill a Fast and the Furious movie. Bell is an actress who somehow got lost in the shuffle over the past 10 years. After her amazing work in Kill Bill and then incredible moto-surfing work in Death Proof, a betting man might have thought that she’d get an opportunity to nab a role in a big time movie and become something of a household name.
Bell plays Eve in Angel of Death, an assassin with some serious skills at taking out her marks. She gets a new partner and finds herself in a situation where a 4 inch blade gets jammed into her skull. It’s not the best thing to happen to someone in the beginning of the movie. But, if you told me I was going to get a massive knife shoved into my head and my only side effect would be some visions of past people I’ve killed, then I would be ecstatic.
You may not have noticed since she’s usually being hurled from a high point or from a moving vehicle, but Zoe Bell has an undeniably rockin’ bod.
In what has to be considered the most badass scene in the entire movie, Bell puts on one hell of a fight scene in a public bathroom. The location has been used quite frequently in action movies; The Man from Nowhere, True Lies, and Casino Royale all come to mind, but Angel of Death gives the scene a little more time than it does other fight scenes in the movie and it’s very noticeable in a good way.
Bell has never stopped working in the years that followed Kill Bill but I would love to see her get a villain role in one of Marvel’s Netflix shows like Iron Fist or DareDevil. A man can hope.
