Women of Action: Meryl Streep – The River Wild
You probably thought you would never see Meryl Streep on this website, didn’t you? Well, look who just so happened to pop up today when you least expected it! The 98 time Oscar winner (just guessing), Meryl Streep.
The River Wild splashed onto screens in 1994 with a small cast of very talented actors who probably didn’t know they were about to be soaking wet for a month during filming. Streep’s character, Gail Hartman, is a former river guide who gets thrown into a situation where her skills are needed to get a couple of bad guys down the river. Unfortunately for her, she’s on vacation with her family and they’re now being held hostage to get the men away from the law.
What the bad guys (Kevin Bacon and John C. Reily) didn’t know was that going down the river was going to be damned hard! Gail is nothing short of an extreme badass who stands up to the men, straight up clubbing them a few times with the paddles, and eventually guides the team through one of the harshest river rapids in the area.
Also, recognize that when you put a mother in a position to have to protect her child that she’s going to do whatever it takes. The look in her eyes says it all. Meryl Streep is the G.O.A.T!
