Scene of the Week: Dead Presidents – Armored Truck Heist
Another film that doesn’t get nearly enough talk is 1995’s Dead Presidents. It’s a snapshot in American history for a lot of people and its depiction of the Vietnam War and life home for returning vets. Something else that it did was inspire a whole bunch of professional wrestlers who suddenly wanted to wear black and white face paint!
Synopsis: A Vietnam vet adjusts to life after the war while trying to support his family, but the chance of a better life may involve crime and bloodshed.
Not only is the above scene a really awesome armored truck heist scene but it also gives you a quick glimpse into the talent that was brought in for this film. Lorenz Tate, Keith David, Chris Tucker, Freddy Rodriguez, N’Bushe Wright and Bokeem Woodbine all feature in this scene and deliver excellent performances throughout the film. While this heist scene is the most recognizable one in the film the depictions of Lorenz Tate’s time in Vietnam might be the most powerful for me. If you haven’t seen it, I highly encourage you to check it out.
