Bullet Points: Mississippi Shakedown
There are all kinds of action movies out there and I love to watch all of them. That doesn’t mean I want to rewatch every one. That is not to say I regret watching or don’t recommend watching a movie, just that I will probably never be watching again. One such movie that I recently watched was Mississippi Shakedown. I am glad I took in the experience of Mississippi Shakedown but if you asked me to rewatch I would politely decline. I will leave it up to you to decide if you want to watch, but I happen to have some Bullet Points for Mississippi Shakedown, just remember that blood flows deep down the old river.
- Mississippi Shakedown opens with a Star Wars style scroll that moves at light speed as well as being narrated and mentions certain actors by name. I never saw Mark Hammil’s name in the beginning of Star Wars.
- Proper punctuation and spelling was optional.
- The story in Mississippi Shakedown deals with rival gangs and their members with killer names trying to control for power.
- Check out some of these quality character names: Sip, Black, Money Bagz, Fya Red, Dat Boy Dent, Jay Low, 3 Way, Jacker and Raw Dogg.
- Completely Random Unrelated Mississippi Fact #1: In 2016 the Washington Post ranked the states on intelligence using 2015 SAT scores and Mississippi came in 48 out of 50.
- While all those names and characters are entertaining, it means that the screen time is spread around and we don’t get enough character development to care for any one character as the film is constantly jumping from one scene to the next.
- Along with changing characters, the music changes for every scene and it is very distracting. The music isn’t bad and you will enjoy the music if you like trap, hip-hop, R&B, and rap, but it was almost like the people involved were the ones who made the music and they wanted to get as much of it in Mississippi Shakedown as possible.
- The music was not as distracting as the entire movie being dubbed which still did not eliminate the terrible sound which makes certain scenes inaudible.
- Sip and Black were played by Mando Allen and Dewey Allen respectively and they make up the Allen Brotherz who wrote and produced Mississippi Shakedown through their Scotlawood Motion Pictures with Dewey also directing.
- Completely Random Unrelated Mississippi Fact #2: The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System used by the CDC to track and record health has Mississippi as the most unhealthiest state with 39.5% of adults considered obese as of September 2019. Well, I should say they are tied with West Virginia so they have that going for them.
- 3 Way got his name for his penchant for murders using a bat, knife, and a gat.
- There are more strippers in Mississippi Shakedown than you can shake a stick at, and they are not just there to dance, they are also involved in the illegal activities.
- There actually was too much dancing going on in Mississippi Shakedown as the scenes went on too long and combined with all the talk about action really limited the actual amount of action in the movie.
- I don’t want to spoil what happens in Mississippi Shakedown (which won’t be too hard because I’m not sure what happened) but there are some shootouts and enough action scenes that take Mississippi Shakedown from a stipper show to an actual action movie.
- Completely Random Unrelated Mississippi Fact #3: Mississippi ranks number one in poverty rate. That is not a good thing though, as nearly 20% of the population is living in poverty.
- When the bosses come down and aren’t afraid to do a drive by in the daylight I actually felt bad for one of the characters. Good job, Mississippi Shakedown.
- Mississippi Shakedown jumps six months forward for the end to find one of the characters realizing his dream of being a business owner… and time for one more elongated dance scene.
- The best part of the ending is when Dewey Allen, Mando Allen and Money Bagz (both real name and character name) talk directly to the camera and promote Mississippi Shakedown. Somehow it worked for me even though I didn’t see it until the movie was over.
- They also promote Scotlawood Motion Pictures and let the audience know they also do comedies as they plea for Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg to reach out.
- Speaking of reaching out, you can call 3WayStreet Radio at (225) 223-0285. I can’t guarantee the number still works, but I am glad they decided to put it in the end credits.
- Completely Random Unrelated Mississippi Fact #4: The life expectancy in Mississippi is the lowest in the country at 74.91 years, and that is 4 years below the national average.
You may be thinking that you might not want to watch Mississippi Shakedown after the Bullet Points. That would be up to you, but I can tell you that I don’t regret watching and admire filmmakers who know they don’t have the money, equipment, or talent of others but still go out there and make a film they are passionate about. The plot and subject matter of is probably not intended for a general audience and has a more specific target demo in mind, but that won’t stop everyone from enjoying some Mississippi Shakedown Bonus Bullet Points
- I promise quote: “Don’t you never lie to me again.”
- If you ever wanted to know what a ho carries in her ho bag than Mississippi Shakedown is for you.
- Favorite question: “Want to do sex?”
- You know you are buying the good stuff when it will make a donkey dance.
- Quote to leave you with: “Down in Mississippi we prefer to do things our way, the f***ing dumb way…”
