Bullet Points: Legacy (2020)
I normally don’t start a review telling you where to watch the movie I’m reviewing, but it is worth noting Legacy is streaming free on Tubi. All you need is internet access, and you can watch Legacy as many times as you want. Tubi is one of the most underrated streaming services available. Now, let us get to the review.
- The Plot: A big time international war criminal is set to stand trail for his hideous crimes. To prevent his conviction, the baddie sends a hitman to kill his biological son. His son is living with a family in the United States, and they have no clue about their adopted son’s real past. The only person who can save the day is a relentless MI6 Agent. Legacy stars Luke Goss in the hero role. Louis Mandylor as the devoted adopted dad who will do anything to protect his son and Robert ‘Sanz’ Sanchez as Z the brutal hitman. Legacy is directed by R. Ellis Frazier and it is written by Robert Orr.
- The Goss: Here at Bulletproof Action it is a known fact that I’m Luke’s biggest fan on the staff. I’m not sure why I like him, but I’ll watch almost anything with him in it. Luke Goss does what you would expect Luke Goss to do in a movie like this. He speaks soft, but he carries a big gun. Luke doesn’t have a lot of action scenes, but his acting is on point.
- The Family: The theme to take away from Legacy is blood doesn’t necessarily mean family. Louis Mandylor is Frank, a retired war veteran living with his wife and adopted son. They decide to take a family bonding trip out into the woods. Father and son get to ride 4 wheelers while practicing shooting their bows. What could go wrong? I’m a huge Louis Mandylor fan as well, so Legacy is definitely in my wheelhouse.
- The Loco Plot: The plot is crazy, because who would think some notorious Eastern European Evil Asshole would try to murder a child he fathered when he raped one of his sex slaves. Yeah, this guy is one awful character with an ugly nose too. We also have the hitman known as Z. He enjoys removing all traces of his victims. I think he chops them up with a chainsaw, and then pours acid on them. However, he’s also a devoted father who enjoys watching videos of his daughter play piano. Let’s not forget how Luke Goss magically appears in the USA to help find the adopted son. Talk about going beyond the call of duty. I also forgot to tell you the boy being hunted is a hemophiliac. That means if he bleeds too much, he’s in big trouble. We also have a scene with the hitman eating a batch of cookies, and there’s a deputy sheriff who isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. The plot sounds on paper like a clusterfuck, but in all actually, Legacy is quite watchable.
- The Final Verdict: Legacy isn’t the most action packed movie, but it is surprisingly watchable when there’s no action. Luke Goss haters might not hate Goss as much if they give Legacy a chance.
Bonus Bullet Points…
- Star Rating: Legacy gets a solid 3 out of 5 stars from me.
- Legacy Blurb: Legacy features Luke Goss in one of his best roles, and it shows you family is thicker than blood.
- No Bears: While most of the action takes place in the woods, I was sad there wasn’t any bears. I just learned bears are the second smartest mammal next to humans. Also, you should never race a bear. They are super fast!
