Scene of the Week: Ready Player One
As we approach the one year mark of a pandemic that has impacted us all in numerous ways, I think it is safe to say we all wish we could immerse ourselves in a place like The Oasis. The setting for 2018’s Ready Player One is a sprawling virtual reality universe with thousands of avatars that pay homage to pop culture’s greatest characters.
When Wade Watts and his friends band together to find the Easter eggs that will grant them ownership of The Oasis and prevent big bad Nolan Sorrento’s hostile takeover, the quest lands them on Planet Doom. With only one key needed to reach their ultimate goal, Wade and his friends decide they’re not going to take it anymore and lead the troops into battle!
Our Scene of the Week is a visual boost of adrenaline, and your blood will be pumping when an onslaught of avatars including a Gremlin, a Master of the Universe, and a devilish doll decide to bring the fight to to the bad guys!
