Scene of the Week: May Day
A View to a Kill was the final outing for Sir Roger Moore as James Bond. Many remember the 1985 film for the eccentric villain Max Zorin played by the eccentric Christopher Walken, or the exciting fire truck chase in San Francisco, or the early appearance of Dolph Lundgren, or an action set piece with an airship, or the Bond girl Stacey Sutton played by the late Tonya Roberts, or the Duran Duran theme song. All very memorable parts of A View to a Kill, but the appearance of Grace Jones as May Day, Zorin’s lover and henchwomen makes Moore’s swansong one to remember.
This week’s Scene of the Week starts with Bond investigating a Zorin warehouse which features some old timers fighting and then transitions to the main event, Grace Jones vs. Christopher Walken. The fight scene with a pithy quip, the comedic scene of the man waving in the box and the sexually charged sparring match all being combined perfectly encapsulates the action found throughout the James Bond filmography.
