Unofficial Sequels: Point Break/The Replacements/John Wick
Despite my many prayers an official sequel to the 1991 hit Point Break was never made. The story of FBI Agent Johnny Utah was like a grand fireworks show; extremely exciting but over in a flash. That is why I took it upon myself to continue the saga of Johnny and who better to tell the tale than the man who portrayed him first, the great Keanu Reeves. You’ll notice that many of the similarities between these characters and films appear to be more than coincidental and for me that is because it isn’t just a coincidence, it’s an Unofficial Sequel!
During a totally radical football scene in Point Break we learned that young Johnny Utah still had “it”. By “it” I mean he still had the skills that made him the starting QB at Ohio State University. He was running those surfer hippies over and ended the game with a winning play made 3 feet deep into the ocean. A knee injury forced Johnny from making it into the NFL but his talent is still unmistakable.
Johnny Utah would finally get his man; dead or alive. His career with the FBI, however, would not survive. Johnny continued to rehab his old wounds, both physical and mental. He finally landed in a small fishing town in coastal Maine where he found work fishing off his boat and playing football again for a semi-professional team. When the player strike hit The League Johnny strapped on his knee brace and became the quarterback for the Washington Sentinels that he always knew he could be. His success didn’t last, though. The players returned to the team and soon Johnny was back to being the wanderer of his younger days.
Fast forward a few more years and John Utah is now in a self-imposed retirement from football and living under the name John Wick. It’s a name change that both keeps the fan mail from reaching his door and it also keeps his old FBI buddies from knocking down his door. John has found a way to use his considerable skills to become an elite level hit man and has spent the past several years in the shadows. But as has always been the case with John his attention soon fell to a woman that would change his life. A woman that caused him to abandon the life of suffering and death he had become accustomed to and escape the sins of his past. From a star collegiate QB at Ohio State to the young hotshot FBI Agent; a short return to the position of Quarterback and then a career as an assassin; now John wishes only to live peacefully with the only woman who could tame his wild soul.
Could easily map out the matrix(finale) and Bill n Ted(prequel) somewhere in here too
There is no way that John Wick Keanu and Ted Theodore Logan Keanu are the same person!
